We will be having a 20-word spelling test this Friday morning in the library. Students will be unable to see the word wall and so this will give us a pretty good picture of where they are in spelling. The words will be words from the word wall, so please review them with your child this week. Remember that we are heading out on our field trips Tuesday and Thursday. It is supposed to rain both days, so please make sure that your child has rainwear or an umbrella for the walk. Thank you and have a great week.

The spelling test will be on Thursday as Friday will be a busy day. The classroom newsletter will be coming home today and there are a number of important dates on it. I will also post those dates here so that if you do lose the hard copy you can look back at the blog anytime.
Fri. June 4: Fun Day starts at 8:30
Tues. June 8: Field Trip to Multicultural Centre (noon – 2:30)
Thurs. June 10: Field Trip to Multicultural Centre (9:30 – noon)
Thurs. June 24: Identity Project due in the morning and viewing in the afternoon
Fri. June 25: Talent Show starts at 1 o’clock
Mon. June 28: Swimming at the Stony Plain Pool (12:30 – 3)
Tues. June 29: Grade 6 Farewell (10:30 – 11:55) and Last Day of School

Here are the five new (old?) words for the week. Our spelling test will be on Thursday morning instead of Friday because of the Professional Development Day on the 30th. Also, Mr. I will be absent both Wednesday and Thursday as a group of teachers and I are heading to Medicine Hat for some more professional development!

I would also like to pass on a quality website that we have actually had the chance to use once in Computers. The students really enjoyed its interactivity and it really helps with reading. It’s called Starfall and you can get to it at www.starfall.com. Enjoy!

We will not be introducing any new words to our students this week as it is such a short week. We will be reviewing our current list of words over the next three days though.
